Keeping busy

Weekend has passed quickly as always although I have been trying to keep busy to distract myself from thinking about my mother and her illness. The news isn't good......I keep thinking... why did she smoke....

So to keep busy, I have made some lovely brown bread, fig and walnut. Last weeks batch is long gone. I have made a decision that all my bread will be home made from now on , although it takes couple of hours it's worth it and it's cheap, artisan bread is expensive. I think bread is such a staple in our diet and it's so comforting when it's good quality.

I have prepared all my meals for next week to make my life a little easier. Also made some Mary Berry fork buiscuits, absolutely lovely, chocolate brownies for lunch boxes and I have organised my freezers, very organised system in place, lists have been produced so I know exactly what I have and
what I need to buy. This is the first for me... may it last.

These are so yummy..... three ingredients; 8oz of butter, 4 oz of caster sugar, 10oz of self raising flour, mix the butter with sugar, add flour, mix with your hands until dough is formed, divide into 4 and again each piece into four until you get 34 dough pieces, form small balls and flatten with fork, place on tray lined with baking paper, no need to grease, bake for 10 min on 170C.
